it"s a great honor for me to stand here to deliver a speech to you. thentoday i want to talk something about dreams and reality.
as the famous russian litterateur lev tolstoy (列夫、托尔斯泰)said, “ideal is thebeacon(烟火、灯塔). without ideal, there is no secure (无虑的, 安全的, 安心的, 可靠的,保险的)direction; without a direction, there is no life.” so there’s no doubt thateveryone needs his or her own ideal. have you ever thought that what ispractical and sensible(.明智的, 有感觉的, 明理的) will connect with our most treasureddreams? maybe, to somebody, reality has little relation to ideal. to othersnothing can be done without the sense of reality. so make our dreams a part ofour reality. and make our reality a part of our dreams. there is no reason whyour dreams must oppose our reality. improve our dreams and our reality bybringing them together.
as a university student, establishing a dream is one of the most importantthings we have to do .but everyone must see the reality clearly at first. yourfamily condition, your personal ability, your social intercourse (交往、交流), yoursubject and the job you want to do, these things show you the reality and leadyou to establish a dream.
further more, difficult or otherwise, we should put the power of realityinto our dreams. last but not least remember to work hard at the task of chasing追逐our dreams. do believe that we can achieve our ideal step by step by thepassage of time!

People are alarmed by the succession of campus fires in recent years. In each of these accidents heavy casualties were reported – houses were burned down students lost their lives and properties were damaged. Faced with such a chilling fact people keep asking “What on earth results in these repeated tragedies?”
近年来，人们对连续的校园火灾感到震惊。每一个事故中都有严重伤亡报道，房屋被烧毁，学生失去生命，财产受到损失。面对这样一个令人毛骨悚然的事实，人们不禁反问，“究竟是什么导致这些悲剧反复发生?”
A brief survey of them reveals that human factors still prove to be the leading causes. For example three of these fires were caused by the students’ use of electric water-heaters. As students often leave the heaters unattended the risks are rather high should the water in the bottle boil dry while no one is around to turn off the power. In other cases fires were also caused by stoves candles cigarette butts etc.
一项简单的调查揭露，人为因素仍然是主要的原因。比如，其中三起事故都是由于学生使用热得快引起的。由于学生经常让热得快处于无人看守状态，如果瓶中的水烧干却没有人在旁边拔掉电源的话风险是相当高的。其他情况，如火炉，蜡烛，烟头等也会引起火灾。
Since most of these disasters could have been prevented if proper precautions had been taken students should be better educated on the importance and measures of fire control. The following three reminders are of particular importance for us students: First learn how to use a fire extinguisher. Second double-check candles heaters stoves and other electric appliances and make sure there are no open flames before leaving rooms. Lastly do not smoke in the dorm.
因为如果能够采取适当的预防措施，大部分的这些灾难本可以避免的，所以学生应该更好地被教育控制火灾的重要性以及措施。以下三个警告对我们学生尤其重要：第一，学会如何使用灭火器。第二，仔细检查蜡烛，热水器，炉具及其他电器，并确保在离开房间之前没有明火。最后，不要在寝室内吸烟。
