      【Abstract】In the practice of the English Teaching, body language is an utmost important potential power that can affect students" concentration. Body language is a significant method to successfully organize the class for teachers, it can not only solve the problem of learning and teaching but also can promote effectively the students to learn happily, easily, willingly and make achievements.

      Body language is an information system that expresses meaning by non-language actions and physical gestures. It includes those non-speaking actions made by our body. For example, our expressions in eyes, on faces, all kinds of gestures, shaking and nodding, etc. In our daily life, we can communicate with body language like gestures or actions instead of speaking and sometimes, the former is more effective. An America psychologist Fonbort"s research result named “Posture Effect” indicates that of all information we have received, 7% from written texts, 38% from speaking, and 55% from body language. Thus it can be seen that body language plays an important role in communication.
      English is a foreign language which requires a lot of practices. The key point of teaching is to develop students" potentialities of communication and improve their comprehensive ability of using language. Make full use of body language in the class is one of the most effective methods of teaching English. It accords with the developing rule of learning languages and is helpful for achieving the teaching target.
      Part I. The importance of body language in the English teaching
      1, By using of body language in English teaching, we can activate the class so as to enhance the expected effect. Also, with emotional affection, we can better instruct the students, enlighten them and inspire their non-intelligence factors.
      2, By fully using body language, we can help the students to improve their ability of self-express and general using of English; We can help them to better understand the English learning; We can build a close relationship between teachers and students; By doing so, we can provide our intelligent support for improving the quality of English teaching and developing the high-quality talents who have a good command of English.
      3, By using body language in teaching, it is helpful to form the habit of thinking in English. The habit of thinking greatly affects language learning. Chinese speakers are used to thinking through the materials and forms that belong to Chinese. When learning English, this specific thinking habit will prevent the development of thinking in English, that"s one of the main reasons why it is hard to learn English. However, students" English thinking habit are rather weak. So we need to help them by using body language to link the English concept with the objective things to form the highly automatic conditioned reflex.   4, By using body language in teaching, it is helpful for the students to understand the background of English social culture and the atmosphere of English society, to know that the meaning of language varies with different mood, gesture or expression in real situation.
      Part II The application of body language in the English teaching
      1,By using body language we can inspire the students" learning interest, activate the atmosphere of class and promote them to learn happily.
      Interest leads the study, so stimulating and fostering students" interest in study plays key role to teach successfully As body language is visual and interesting, students are willing to accept it and get deep impressions. The class will be vivid and vigorous when teachers use body language in teaching to make a remarkable performance or to read the text with emotional expression or to explain racily. condition for students to learn easily and happily. For instance, when teaching adjectives such as “big, small, fat, thin”, teacher can keep his/her mouth full of air and hold his/her face in hand palm to imitate as fat, as a result the students can fully understand the meaning of “fat” and enjoy the funny at the same time. When explaining “small, big”, teacher can raise his/her hand and show the students thumb or little finger to as illustration. From those actions, students would imitate naturally and bear in mind the words of “big” and “small”. And when explaining the phrases of “Not bad, thank you”, teacher can clap his/her chest, raising his/her arms, and shrug his/her shoulders to show he/she is strong , thus the students could quickly catch what the teacher is trying to express. when teaching the phrase of “Not so good”, teacher can shiver or beat his back and chest to pretend to be in deep sorrow, students will understand this immediately and imitate the action. It is these funny actions that draw the students" eyeball in the class and enormously activate the atmosphere as well as promote the learning interest and efficiency.
      2, By using body language, the teacher can create variety of learning methods, increase more opportunities of practicing English, and make it easy to learn for students.
      A lots of practice and emotional experience are required during the process of English learning, so we need to try our best to provide the students with the most real scene to bring them into the learning world. It"s easy to satisfy the above requirements by using body language, further more, we can change students" learning style by promoting them to imitate these actions. They can get rid of the tedious repeating exercises and no longer learning like a forced-feeding duck. Using body language (gestures and expressions) when teaching words such as “think, listen draw” etc., teacher can give the meaning directly and students will remember these words very fast with curiosity. For example: panda, cat, dog and zebra belong to animal; apple, orange, peach and pear belong to fruit; swim, sing, dance and touch belong to action. All these words can be reviewed by using gestures. way, student can make full use of eye, brain, hand and mouth during learning. By looking at the gestures, reading the words and reciting the spelling, it would be a great help for students to easily overcome the “words barrier”.   3,The development of language skills depends mostly on the
      experience of using target language. The more experience of using language, the better of students" ability to use and study by themselves, the faster they make improvement. Take an example: when teaching the sentence of “ Let us go to the park. Ok! Let us go. But how? By bike.”, to keep the learning condition, teacher can wave hand to students and say “ Let us go to the park!”, then lean head and reach out hands and say: “ But how?” While saying “By bike”, the teacher can do the action of riding a bike. By doing so, teacher can guide the students to get rid of the affect of mother language and the content of teaching is concrete and vivid.
      Body language greatly encourages students to learn languages in class actively since it enriches students" experience and advances students" understanding and feeling on English. It helps students manage the comprehensive ability of using English by taking part in the enormous practical activities under teachers" organizing and guiding.
      In summary, body language should not be neglected in English teaching. To use body language accurately, properly, naturally and harmoniously can help teachers organize the teaching, enhance the relationship between teachers and students, and increase the teaching effect etc. English teachers should intentionally make full use of body language to show the function of “dumb language”, to make it as better as speaking teaching and best serve the English teaching.
